5 Tips for a Solo Walt Disney World Trip
Have you ever considered going to Walt Disney World® Resort on your own? Have you spent time alone in the parks? Well, we have, and it’s surprisingly fun and refreshing! If you are considering a solo-trip, solo-day, or even just a few hours to yourself on your next trip to Disney, read on to see our 5 Tips for a Solo Walt Disney World Trip!
Visiting the parks on your own doesn’t have to be scary!
1. Take time to slow down and be “in the moment”
This was probably the thing I personally enjoyed most about my time alone at Disney. I flew in to meet up with friends later, so I was able to just enjoy just navigating Magical Express all by myself. I spoke with other guests and got to know folks in line. Talked with my seat mate on the Magical Express Coach. It was just nice to enjoy the whole process of getting to my resort without worrying about any kids or traveling companions. I could enjoy all the Christmas decor up around the other resorts at drop-offs. It was literally just me and my MagicBand!
2. Enjoy some “me time” on your Solo Disney World Trip!
I had a couple of hours to kill on another recent trip with friends since I had arrived many hours before the rest of my party, so I decided to go to Magic Kingdom. Once I was actually inside the parks alone, it was great being able to walk down Main Street, snap a few photos, shop. I literally could do whatever I wanted to do. I had no agenda! Another time, on a family trip my dear husband actually surprised me and carved some time out for me to go enjoy the spa on a rest day. Try something new! Ride Test Track Single-rider over and over. Sit and watch the Star Wars Stage show in Hollywood Studios.
3. Get to know a Cast Member or two!
When you don’t have anyone else to keep up with, you set the pace. Take the time to chat with the Cast Members (CMs) in line for an attraction, or a parade attendant, a character attendant. You might learn some new Disney tips and tricks, or you might be able to showcase your own Disney Trivia knowlege. Some of our most magical moments at Disney have been with unexpected interactions with CMs. You never know, a nice conversation with a CM might even lead to a little extra Pixie Dust!
4. Enjoy a meal without the rush!
Maybe there’s a restaurant you’ve always wanted to try, but your family doesn’t enjoy French food? Maybe you’re so worried with getting the family fed, your burger is always cold by the time you get around to eating? Well not when you’re alone! I went to a quick-service restaurant and ate at a nice leisurely pace, not worrying about getting up to get straws or extra napkins or another fork because a kid knocked one off the table. So enjoyable!
5. FastPass+ it up!
As a solo visitor to Disney, it is actually fairly easy to make even last-minute plans. FastPass for one? No problem! Many people are able to add even the most popular FastPass+ attractions day-of when accessing the My Disney Experience app and looking for a reservation for 1.
Don’t be afraid to go it alone, even if it’s for just a couple of hours! You might find it’s your new favorite thing to do at Disney. Ready to plan your own solo-trip to the Walt Disney World® Resort? Get in touch and we can help you start planning today.
