Coronado Springs Resort Best Walt Disney World Moderate Resort
One of the most frequently asked questions I get is “Which Walt Disney World Resort is the best?”. There are 4 different categories of Walt Disney World Resort hotels – Value, Moderate, Deluxe, and Deluxe Villa. Each resort category offers different amenities and luxury.
In my opinion, the most popular resort hotels are ones that fall under the Moderate category. Moderate Resorts offer some of the amenities found at the more expensive Deluxe Resorts. They also have whimsical “Disney” touches throughout the property. Unlike the Value resorts, Moderate resorts also include feature pools with water slides!
There are 5 Disney Resort hotels that fall under the Moderate Resort category:
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Although Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts are extremely popular, my personal favorite is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Here are my reasons why I think that Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort wins the title of “Best Walt Disney World Moderate Resort Hotel”
Gran Destino Tower
The Gran Destino Tower is the newest addition to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. It is a 16-floor tower that opened in July 2019. The lobby is stunning! Also found here are the Barcelona Lounge, Dahlia Lounge, and Toledo – Tapas, Steak, and Seafood. The latter is a rooftop restaurant which offers spectacular and unique views!
The Guest rooms found inside the Gran Destino Tower are quite large. They are much larger than the other Moderate category hotel rooms. They are even larger than some of the Deluxe category hotel rooms! With floor to ceiling windows, every room has a great view of Walt Disney World Resort.
The Gran Destino Tower makes Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort feel like a Deluxe Resort, but at Moderate resort prices!
Beautiful Architecture
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is made up of 4 sections:
Gran Destino Tower
Casitas
Ranchos
Cabanas
Lago Dorado, the lake, is featured at the center of the property. There are three bridges which connect the sections to the center of the lake. A blend of Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American cultures are easily seen in the construction of the resort. The Cabanas section is modeled after rustic Mexican beach resorts. The Ranchos section features pueblo-style architecture. The Casitas section are Spanish-style stucco buildings. With its plazas and fountains, the Casitas section is easily the most romantic!
The Food!
Spanish-inspired cuisine can be found everywhere. Did I mention how good it was?! The food found here is great – especially the rice bowls at El Mercado de Coronado!
The Dig Site
In addition to 3 quiet pools, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is home to The Dig Site. The Dig Site includes:
Volleyball Court
Siestas Pool Bar
Iguana Arcade
Explorer’s Playground
The Lost City of Cibola Pool including 123-foot long Jaguar Slide
Children’s Pool
Largest Spa in Walt Disney World (holds up to 22 people!)
The Lost City of Cibola pool features a 50-foot pyramid. Adults and kids alike have fun relaxing as the water streams down the stone steps!
Amazing Location
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is centrally located, making it a great choice for your next vacation! The resort is conveniently located close to all of the theme parks and Disney Springs. The only form of transportation included when staying here is bus transportation. It only takes about 10 to 15-minutes to reach any of the theme parks or Disney Springs if you board the bus at the Gran Destino Tower stop. This short transfer time makes Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort once of the most conveniently located Moderate Resorts.
Between the Gran Destino Tower rooms, the amazing food, and the convenient location, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a great choice for your next Walt Disney World vacation!
