D23 Expo News

D23 Expo News!  Disney made many new announcements during the D23 expo this weekend and we are excited to share all of the highlights with you. Royal Treatment Travel attended the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Panel to learn more about what’s next in Disney’s future.

  • An all-new Disneyland parade is planned for the spring named ‘Magic Happens’, featuring new floats with Moana, Coco, Sleeping Beauty and more.

  • Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride opening at Walt Disney World in 2020, and also at Disneyland’s Toontown in 2021.

  • Hong Kong castle update: 13 Disney heroines inspired new design. Plus, a Frozen-inspired land with new attraction to come.

  • An all new Cirque du Soleil show in Disney Springs will include Disney animated characters interacting with show performers. Opening March 20, 2020.

  • The Disney Store is partnering with Target to bring Disney products inside select Target stores nationwide.

  • The 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World will be celebrated in all 4 parks with special merchandise available.

  • In late 2020 ‘Disney Genie’ app will be introduced to guests to enhance their Walt Disney World vacation experience with customized itineraries, dining reservations, and Fast Pass selection capabilities.

  • A new Walt Disney World resort called ‘Reflections’ will be a country-themed lodge with A-framed cabins and tree house suites. A Princess and the Frog table-service restaurant will be located at this new resort.

Avengers

  • ’Avengers Campus’ coming to Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong to recruit new heroes with a Spider-Man attraction that slings webs and Spider-Bots run loose.

  • A new Pym Kitchen will grow and shrink food.

  • The Antman the Wasp will have a meet and greet.

  • Doctor Strange will appear in a new stage show at Avengers Campus too.

  • The Disneyland Paris New York Hotel will be reimagined next summer to include Marvel Superheroes.

  • In phase two of the Avengers Campus, recruits will fly on a quinjet to Wakanda and fight alongside Black Panther and their favorite superheroes on a new ride system.

Epcot Updates

  • Epcot ‘The Magic of Possibility Awaits’, will be transformed over the next few years.

  • The park will be divided into four different neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Celebration.

  • Spaceship Earth will be reimagined and focused on storytelling, with new scenes and a “story light” as a journey guide. A new ride exit will be designed so guests can enjoy sweeping views of World Showcase. A statue of Walt Disney will be situated at this new location called, “Dreamer’s Point”.

  • ’Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmic Rewind’ will be the name of this new attraction which will also be a “reverse launch” rollercoaster.

  • A new space-themed restaurant called Space 220 will open this winter. Guests can climb aboard an elevator and shoot 220 miles into outer space and dine on the orbiting space station with views of planet earth. Opening this winter.

  • A ‘Play Pavillon’ will house an interactive city for guests to have a virtual water balloon fight and draw fashion designs with Edna. This new area will be unique to Epcot and opens for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

  • ’Awesome Planet’ film will be premiering January 2020.

  • ’Journey of Water’ will be a Moana-themed attraction allowing guests to interact with water to learn about the water cycle.

  • New World showcase films coming for China and Canada.

  • France will expand with a new Ratatouille attraction, a new Creperie restaurant and a Beauty and the Beast sing a long experience coming January 2020.

  • A Mary Poppins attraction will be added to the UK Pavillon to celebrate the film’s 65th anniversary. Guests will walk down Cherry Tree Lane and enter the Banks’ home to begin their adventure.

  • ’Epcot Forever’ will be a temporary nighttime show until the new ‘Harmonious’ (the largest in history) debuts in 2020. A new ‘Anthem of Epcot’ will be the musical score to accompany this nighttime spectacular.

Star Wars Galactic Cruiser

A Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser will allow guests an all-inclusive space cruise on the Halcyon for a 2-day and 2-night adventure. Guests will board and depart together and will experience an immersive Star Wars story with a port day at Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. There will be alien crew members, views of space, and lots of Star Wars characters aboard including: Chewy, Rey, Kylo Ren, Stormtroopers, and many new characters! Guests’ story will be based on choices. Kids and grownups alike will have a chance to participate in training to defend the ship, visit the bridge, and discover hidden spaces and secret meetings. Disney Cruise Line

  • The name of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship will be called the “Wish” and start sailing in January of 2022. Rapunzel will be the ship’s stern character.

  • Lighthouse Point will be a new Disney-owned port stop on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Disney plans to incorporate local art and culture as well as natural elements into this destination experience.
