Review of Halloween Horror Nights: Unmasking the Horror Tour

Ever since I learned about it, I have always wanted to experience Halloween Horror Nights. This event takes place select nights during the spooky season at Universal Studios Florida. I recently visited Orlando but was uncomfortable experiencing this event all alone. Instead, I did the next best thing! I booked a Halloween Horror Nights: Unmasking the Horror Tour.

What is Halloween Horror Nights: Unmasking the Horror Tour?

Halloween Horror Nights: Unmasking the Horror Tour is a daytime “lights on” tour. Tours are offered multiple times on select dates. There is also an option of a 3-house tour or a 6-house tour. I do want to mention that even though this is a “lights on” tour, it is not super bright in the houses. The lights that are on are more like flood lights.  Scare actors are also not present during the tour.

What Houses Did I Tour?

I decided to book a 3 House tour. I thought that it would be the perfect option for me. It only lasts about 2.5 hours.  I only wanted a little taste of all the houses so this was perfect for me!

The 3 houses I toured were:

  • Halloween

  • Spirits of the Coven

  • Fiesta de Chupacabras

All these houses were located inside the sound stages in Universal Studios Florida.  Some houses are located elsewhere within the park though.

What Did I Think?

I went into this tour without any expectations at all. In all honesty, I am not sure what I was expecting - but I can assure you that I was NOT expecting what I saw! The houses are so intricate. It was like I was walking through scenes from a movie. I only wish that I had been able to see the houses in their glory during one of the many Halloween Horror Nights events.

My Tour Guide was amazing and so knowledgeable! They went over the back story for each of the houses. This is actually very important, especially for the houses that are not based on an existing movie. In fact, the only way you would even know the story behind houses that were not based on movies would be to experience this tour!

The tour guide also set the scene for each room. Guests do not get the full effect of the houses they would if they visited during Halloween Horror Nights.  Verbally setting the stage for us tour goers was a great way so we could picture what the scare actors are doing in each section of the houses! The guide also pointed out different types of scares that are used in the houses - as well as where they would be hidden. This is something I’m sure that those who may not be brave enough for the real event could appreciate!

I loved every moment I spent experiencing this tour and would not hesitate to do it again in the future.

Who Should Experience This Tour?

EVERYONE! Everyone should experience a Halloween Horror Nights: Unmasking the Horror Tour. Whether you are a Halloween fanatic, know all the horror movies by heart, are a bit curious or even if you are a scaredy-cat, this tour is perfect for you! I highly recommend experiencing it!
