Sandals Montego Bay Review
After what has seemed like an eternity, my husband and I finally were able to take a vacation by ourselves. It had been about 10 years since we got to travel by ourselves so I was very excited about this opportunity! With so many different options available to us, we ultimately decided on Sandals Montego Bay for a few reasons:
With a flight of only 4 hours, Jamaica is a relatively short flight.
Sandals Montego Bay is located approximately 5 minutes from the airport, making it a super convenient resort for our 3-night stay.
Sandals Montego Bay is an adult-only resort which meant that we could have a much needed escape from the world of children for a few days.
We are both really picky eaters and the food listed on the menus at Sandals Montego Bay sounding amazing to both of us.
Like most islands in the Caribbean, Jamaica has specific entry requirements in order to travel there. These are fluid and the official entry requirements can be found on the Visit Jamaica website. For our stay, we had to complete a Travel Authorization within 7 days of travel and have a negative COVID-19 test within 3 days of travel. Both of these requirements were easy to accomplish!
One of the best things about the Sangster International Airport is the Sandals Lounge. Upon arrival, guests have their luggage tagged with their destination and are encouraged to sit back and relax until their destination is called. This process was so quick for the two of us that we did not even have a chance to grab a complimentary refreshment or snack before it was time to be transferred to our resort!
Sandals Montego Bay is conveniently located close to the airport which makes it a great choice for a quick getaway. A motor coach brought everyone from the airport to the resort. Masks were required on the motor coach and everyone had to sanitize their hands before boarding. Before I even knew it, we were at the Sandals Montego Bay! Upon arrival, temperatures were taken and noted before being provided with a cold, refreshing towel.
While face masks were not required while outdoors at the resort, they were required if you entered an inside area. Luckily, there are only a handful of places that are fully enclosed! Speaking of those enclosed areas… in addition to masks being required, the capacity was limited in each of them as notated on the window. Sandals staff were required to wear a mask at all times. Your hands were required to be sanitized anytime you entered any indoor location or restaurant. This was very easy to do since hand sanitizer was attached to the wall nearby every door.
While at the resort, we stayed in a Beachfront Grande Luxe Club Level Junior Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub. I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this suite was! From the spa-style bathroom complete with a backlit mirror to the beautiful oversized balcony with a private Tranquility Soaking Tub, it was just pure bliss. The Tranquility Soaking Tub was a great place to relax after a long day on the private white sand beach – and it easily fits 2 people! The views of the ocean and beach from my room were spectacular and so pretty. It was also located convenient to everything - from restaurants to The Living Room where the nightly entertainment happens.
All of the food at Sandals Montego Bay was delectable. There are restaurants such as Soy which has delicious sushi. My favorite dish though was the chicken parmesan from Cucina Romana. I have literally been dreaming about it ever since! I do need to mention that there are options at this resort that will keep the pickiest of eaters as well as those with more refined palettes happy.
One of the best things about Sandals Resorts is that all the food and drinks are included. Since I stayed in a Club Level room, I was also able to get room service. One night I was craving nachos - all I had to do is make a call and the perfect late-night snack was there!
Another favorite of mine during my visit was the desserts at Café de Paris. Now normally, I am not a very big fan of dessert, but these little cakes and pies were really good! I highly recommend visiting at least once.
I was long overdue for a massage so I booked a couples massage so both my husband and I could relax. We had the option of an outdoor or indoor massage. Since we were in paradise, we choose to have our massage outside. The massage was AMAZING! It was also very relaxing listening to the waves lap against the rocks. I was on Cloud 9 the entire time.
I really cannot say enough great things about my time at Sandals Montego Bay! It was nice to be able to get away for a few days to refresh and recharge.
