Ultimate Guide to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass

Walt Disney World Resort recently unveiled exciting updates set to enhance guest experiences beginning on July 24, 2024. Disney Genie+ will be revamped and streamlined with a new name, promising greater accessibility and convenience. This Ultimate Guide will cover everything you need to know about the upcoming changes, including details on the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.  We also dive into their functionalities, purchasing options, and provide a user-friendly graphic to help you navigate the rides and attractions included.

Lightning Lane Passes

Disney Genie+ has evolved into Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while Individual Lightning Lanes are now Lightning Lane Single Pass. These changes begin July 24, 2024, and allow guests to plan in advance of their park visit.

All About Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Many of the rides and attractions that were part of Disney Genie+ will be included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass.  Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be purchased in advance of a visit.  Guests can also choose up to 3 multi pass experiences and arrival windows in a theme park.  These advanced selections are only allowed to be made for a single park.

Selections under Lightning Lane Multi Pass have also been simplified!  Under Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a guest can make a new selection through My Disney Experience on the day of their park visit, once they redeem a selection. If a guest has a valid ticket with Park Hopper option or an Annual Pass, they will be able to choose another multi pass experience in any Walt Disney World theme park, subject to availability.  Lightning Lane Multi Pass can also only be used once per experience per day.  In essence, you can always have up to 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass experiences to look forward to throughout the day, subject to availability!

Experiences at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are now divided into two groups.  When reserving selections in advance, guests will be able to pick up to one experience from Group 1 and the remaining experience allotments from Group 2.  Once a selection has been redeemed, a new experience can be booked from any group, subject to availability.

Guests who purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass will also receive digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos from their day captured with Disney PhotoPass Service as well as access to Disney PhotoPass Lenses.

All About Lightning Lane Single Pass

There is at least one ride in each theme park that falls under Lightning Lane Single Pass.  The rides that are a part of Lightning Lane Single Pass are not one of the participating rides or attractions found in Lightning Lane Multi Pass.  Like Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass can be purchased in advance of a visit.  Only 2 Lightning Lane Single Passes may be purchased per day, subject to availability.

How To Purchase Lighting Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass

One of the wonderful improvements with the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass is the ability to purchase a pass and the ability to choose attractions and arrival windows before the day a guest plans on visiting a theme park.  Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass can be purchased in My Disney Experience.  Selections can also be made within the app as well.

Guests can begin purchasing and choosing selections at 7 AM Eastern Standard Time on their first day of eligibility as outlined below.      No matter which category a guest falls under, valid theme park admission is required prior to purchasing a Lightning Lane pass.

  • 7 Days in Advance for Eligible Resort Hotel Guests: Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotels (Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green) can purchase their Lightning Lane passes and make selections up to 7 days prior to their arrival, for the length of their stay (up to 14 days).

  • 3 Days in Advance for All Other Guests: All other guests can purchase passes and make selections up to 3 days in advance.  Those with date-based tickets will be able to purchase and make selections for the total number of valid admission days on their tickets while guests with other types of tickets and Annual Passholders can purchase and make selections for any day within the 3-day window.

Included Rides & Attractions

Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass cover a variety of attractions. A user-friendly graphic illustrates the offerings. Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios categorize attractions into Group 1 and Group 2, allowing for strategic planning of up to 3 advance selections.  When reserving up to 3 selections in advance at these parks, only up to 1 selection may be made from Group 1, while the remaining selections can be made from Group 2.  Once a guest redeems a selection during their theme park visit, another selection may be made from any group, subject to availability.
